Hoparoma combines published hop-chemistry medians, process models for each addition stage (Boil, Whirlpool, Dry Hop, Cold Dry Hop), yeast strain factors, and a sensory vocabulary (BJCP / Cicerone / Siebel) to output a forecast on seven aroma axes. The prediction is built on peer-reviewed brewing chemistry, and the app lists its sources in Settings → About. Every recipe also breaks its aroma down into per-compound concentrations you can inspect.

Yes. Tap the share button on any saved recipe to export it through iOS's native share sheet. You control where the text goes; the share action itself sends nothing to Hoparoma.

Yes. While a saved recipe still matches what you brewed, choose Mark as brewed: it pins the latest saved version (earlier versions cannot be selected or restored). Then log each tasting against that brew: the date, an optional 1–5 liking score, notes and any aromas you noticed. Logging uses no calculation allowance. The web journal stays on the web and is not synchronised with the app's tasting log. Deleting a recipe keeps its brews and tastings until you delete them; deleting a brew also deletes its tastings. The journal holds up to 500 brews and 50 tastings per brew, with notes up to 2,000 characters; deleted entries still count toward an overall limit of 5,000.

Bought in the iOS app: the subscription is managed by Apple. Open the iOS Settings app → tap your name at the top → Subscriptions → Hoparoma Pro → Cancel Subscription. Bought on the web: sign in at app.hoparoma.com, open Account → Manage subscription and cancel in the Stripe customer portal. No. One Pro subscription covers both the app and the web for the same account. Sign in on the web with the phone number you use in the app, and the web shows you as Pro without offering another subscription. The reverse also holds: a web subscription unlocks Pro in the app once you sign in there.

The two Free tiers are cut differently on purpose. In the iOS app, Free limits features: two saved recipes, and Pro unlocks Phantasm, the thiol yeasts, comparison, export, import and the AI co-pilot. On the web, Free limits volume instead: every ingredient is available, but you get 3 recipes per month, 2 comparisons per recipe and 3 saved recipes. One Pro subscription lifts both sets of limits on the same account.

Free: 3 recipes per month, 2 comparisons per recipe and 3 saved recipes. Pro: 30 recipes per month, up to 10 comparisons each, 50 saved recipes, within 200 calculations per month. Deleting a recipe does not restore the monthly allowance, and the allowances count per phone number.

A phone number is the lightest way to keep one account per number without passwords, and it lets the same account work in the app and on the web. Google's Firebase Authentication verifies the number by SMS; our server stores only a keyed hash of it, never the number. SMS delivery is enabled for Japan, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia. If the code does not arrive, check that your number is in one of those regions and try again after a minute.

Recipes you save to an account live on our server in the United States (Fly.io, San Jose) behind Cloudflare. Delete your account anytime from Account → Delete account on the web or from Settings in the app; recipes, your brewing journal and sessions go immediately, a hashed identifier and your usage counters stay for about 90 days so that deleting and re-registering cannot reset the monthly allowance, and billing records are kept as accounting law requires. That's exactly what the brewing journal is for. Log the tasting, review the per-axis delta, and save it as a Personal Correction. Future recipes will tilt predictions toward your fermentation reality — your water, your yeast pitch, your kettle geometry.

iOS 17.0 and later, on iPhone and iPad. The Apple Intelligence features (the AI co-pilot and Flavor Forecast) additionally need iOS 26 on a supported iPhone; every other feature works on all supported devices.

Not unless you sign in. Used without an account, the app keeps everything on your device and runs no analytics. If you create an account, we keep a keyed hash of your phone number, the recipes you save to the account and your monthly usage counts; payments go through Stripe or Apple. Yes. Hoparoma is a recipe-planning and aroma-prediction tool — you can design, study, and audit recipes without producing beer. Actual brewing must follow your local laws. For example, Japan's Liquor Tax Act (酒税法) prohibits unlicensed production of beverages exceeding 1% ABV. The app neither enables nor encourages unlicensed production.
